　　The Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, Huxi Campus, is located on a 1,000 mu (165 acres) planned section of Chongqing University Town, which was originally known as "Huxi Wujiagou Village Community 7."  Planning and construction of the campus adheres to the locality’s geographical and cultural heritage.  Reflecting the humanistic philosophy of the school, the campus plan leaves the natural topography undisturbed, using the slope of the hillsides as a basic context for the site design. The school buildings were constructed throughout the 11 hills in the area, without any excavations or landfills. The basic principal of the architecture was to render fine forms with rough materials, in the spirit of the rugged landscape. Many of the buildings have the feeling of a spacious creative studio. Different materials were used for the buildings, reflecting the variation in the landscape, with weathered surfaces and exterior walls painted in tones reminiscent of the industrial legacy of Chongqing.

　　The entire campus exudes a quiet, peaceful, natural aura in harmony with the regional culture and campus activities.  The campus also retains a portion of the original farmhouse, wetlands and fields, with these agrarian features forming a corridor connecting the campus network. Farm life continues as before, interwoven into the life of the quiet campus, and a collection of farm implements adorn the cloister as a remembrance of University Town’s origins.  The layout of the buildings reflects the natural conditions of Chongqing, adhering to the traditional " ambush on all sides " architectural design approach, in which a whole settlement scatters around the hillside freely. In its exploration of how art may be combined with technology the Sichuan Fine Art College Huxi campus has a distinctive character, and is a noteworthy example to guide contemporary city construction.
